Raspberry Pi Weather Station

This web page supports the series of YouTube videos in which I am building a Raspberry Pi weather station. So far two videos have been published, as below.

Raspberry Pi Weather Station

This video shows how to use a BME280 temperature, pressure and humidity sensor to turn a Raspberry Pi into a weather station that will record data in a spreadsheet.

The Python code and spreadsheet from the video can be viewed and downloaded from the following links:

Raspberry Pi Anemometer

This video shows how to build a home-made anemometer using an IR reflectance sensor to measure the rotation of a ping-pong ball and biro set of vanes. But of course, you can build them out of anything you like!

The Python code and spreadsheet from the video can be viewed and downloaded from the following links:

  • Wind_Speed_Pi.py
  • weather_wind_spread.py
  • weather_inc_wind_empty.xlsx -- this is the blank spreadsheet that the above code writes data into. Note that it will need to be renamed as weather.xlsx to work with the above code, but that I cannot call it that here, as a file under that name is listed above to support the initial video.

The wiring diagram for the reflectance sensor is here
